Grab Bag: Christa Faust, the Medusa release, Noir at the Bar, and Open Secrets
Bunch of stuff to talk about today, mostly related to upcoming events
Good morning friends! It’s been a minute since I sent one of those, but I just did a really cool event, and I’ve got some more events coming up, and I want to tell you about them.
First, the upcoming stuff:
May 29: Christa Faust is coming to town! We’ll be in conversation at P&T Knitwear about her final Angel Dare book, The Get Off. Christa is one of the authors who made me want to take up this ridiculous profession, and now I’m proud to count her as a friend. This ought to be fun, and maybe a little raunchy. Refreshments will be served. RSVP here.
*A note on RSVPs: They’re important, especially at P&T, and yes they charge $5 for a ticket but that money goes toward either a book or the snack bar. Just do it.
June 1: With Christa in town we decided to once again darken the doorstep of Shade, and will you look at this incredible lineup?
June 23: P&T is also hosting the release party for The Medusa Protocol, where I will be in conversation with my bestie
. This is the night before the release so you will be getting the book early! I’d love to see you there. Again, RSVPs are important. At this point we’ve got a little less than two months until The Medusa Protocol hits, and I’m still scheduling stuff, so there’ll be more to announce soon. I’m also available for podcasts, guest posts, interviews, etc.
And hey, the Assassins Anonymous paperback is hitting May 27, in case you were waiting for that…
This past weekend I participated in
Live, hosted by . I was on a work and career panel alongside comedian and actress Katina Corrao; Nasrin Jafari, founder and designer of fashion company Mixed by Nasrin; , owner/designer of Kwohtations, and writer and comedian . The panel was moderated by .I got invited because of this piece I wrote for Rachel, about the ups and downs of my publishing journey.
It was a huge honor to participate. Maris and the other panelists are incredibly talented and brilliant, and I did my best to keep up with them. The entire event was fantastic; I could only stay for the first half of the day’s panels but there was a lot of great talk about connection, and emotional vulnerability, and the power of stories.
I’ve got my fingers crossed that this is the first of many Open Secrets events. I love working with Rachel and I love what she does, so, this is all to say: If you don’t know the magazine, go check ‘em out and give ‘em a follow. It is very much worth your time.
I’ll be writing another piece for them soon, sort of a follow-up to my first. And my brilliant partner
wrote a very cool piece, which will be coming out soon, related to her work as a Tarot reader!Okay that’s all for now!
