Hey everyone! I’ve fallen off schedule a bit, and I’ve got some stuff I’d like to write about—stuff that’s a little more meaty than this endless “buy my book” stuff—but the past few weeks have been insane.
I went on tour for Assassins Anonymous. Then I went to Seton Hill to teach. Then I took my daughter to Disney in Florida to dance in a parade.
I am firmly on the edge of burnout and doing my best not to topple over. So I’m trying to remind myself of something an old boss of mine used to say: we work with books, not fish; it’ll keep.
That’s the hard thing about publishing—it feels like a constant struggle to keep your head above water. Especially when you do this full-time. But if I spend all that time glued to my desk, I’m going to lose my mind. So I’m going to close this out with a few business items, and then go watch The Simpsons with my kid…
I’ll be discussing Assassins Anonymous in the Washington, DC-area (specifically: Alexandria, VA), on Aug. 1 with Jeffrey James Higgins, at Elaine’s Restaurant. You can RSVP here—please do that if you plan on coming, so we can get a head count.
I’m still open to editorial clients. Specifically, manuscript edits. If you’ve written a book, and you’re stuck, or it’s not coming together, or you want to make sure it’s submission-ready—I can help. More information here.
And Publishers Weekly wrote a lovely review of Dark Space, which I co-wrote with
, due to come out in October. Did I share this already? Who knows. Maybe. Here it is again.I’ll be at NYCC! Not sure exactly what my schedule will be yet, but me and Segura will have a table down in Artist’s Alley!
We’re getting closer to where I can announce the secret project I’ve been grinding on for the last few months. Here’s a hint: Have you ever seen the TV show Manifest? (No, I am not writing a Manifest tie-in novel…)
Next week, I’ll write something with a little more teeth.
Until then, time to take a break…
